GEORGE NEWS - Former Yorkie Jade van Blerk has been selected by International Makeup Artist and Art Director Einat Dan as a finalist in the Bokeh 2018 South African International Creative Make-up Competition. The final will take place on Saturday 22 September and sees finalists from South Africa, Vienna, Venice, Rome, Uruguay and Cyprus taking part.
The talented young lady matriculated in 2017 from York High with an Academic Distinction and honours for academics, cultural and service. During her school years she impressed with her make-up work for weddings, matric dances and various special effects for locally filmed adverts.
This year she started her journey to fulfil a lifelong dream of working in the motion picture and beauty industry as a make-up and special effects artist. She is currently studying at City Varsity in Cape Town, and has already excelled in her field of study, taking part in many final year student projects where she not only takes care of all the make-up requirements and special effects, but has also acted in front of the camera.
She was asked to be the lead make-up artist for the Zip Zap Circus production Journey Beyond at the Artscape theatre in August, which also incorporated the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.
One of Jade's creations.
The production was a huge success and Jade made a significant mark in the industry, which will help ensure employment when she graduates.
