GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Sedgefield and the Garden Route will once again provide the perfect backdrop for yet another international filming.
Unlike the previous filming of the reality shows, "The Bachelor" and Sports reality “Sports X” filmed in 2017, this February, Shootaway Productions will be filming a documentary, a re-enactment of the historians that mapped the world - Abraham Creque, George Everest and Eratosthenes.
Producer Patrick Walton says the locations are “unlimited and perfectly suited to filming of TV series, reality and features”.
“Last year’s filming of "Sports X" brought in an estimated contribution to Sedgefield’s economy of about R2 million so we are eager to welcome more productions to the Greater Knysna Sedgefield area,” says Belinda Hobson, Sedgefield tourism office manager.
This production will once again see local 17-year-old Chaise Reeler working on set which will be his fourth production with Shootaway Productions.
Filming will also take place in Riversdale, another small Cape country town.
The Riversdale Jail, an architectural gem dating back to 1838, will set a perfect backdrop for this documentary on mapping the World in the 1800s.
Owner, Louise Malherbe, who has taken over the Old Jail space for a farmers ‘market and coffee shop, says she is excited to be one of the selected locations.
