GEORGE NEWS - If you want to hear what's on the cards for an ever growing and changing Wilderness, save the date.
Director of Planning and Development at George Municipality, Lauren Waring, will discuss the role of her department, its structure and responsibilities on Wednesday 8 December at the Wilderness Hotel.
Waring has extensive management and leadership experience in local government, honed over many years in senior positions in the Knysna and Drakenstein municipalities.
Her interest in land and development was ignited during her first appointment in the erstwhile National Department of Land Affairs and the Western Cape Land Claims Commission.
In addition, she has consulted to government, the private sector, and non-profit organisations on a broad range of projects and held positions on various boards.
She holds an honours degree in sociology and a masters in town and regional planning from the University of Stellenbosch among various other tertiary qualifications.
Waring will share her views on the challenges of sustainability, population growth, global warming and infrastructure needs. The audience will have ample opportunity for questions and answers.
The talk is being arranged by the Wilderness Ratepayers and Residents Association. It will start at 18:00 for 18:30. Entrance fee is R10 for WRRA members and R20 for non-members.
