GEORGE NEWS - To enhance road safety ahead of the busy Easter holiday period, the Western Cape Government is offering free 10-point vehicle safety checks to all motorists.
This initiative aims to help drivers, particularly those embarking on long journeys, ensure their vehicles are in a roadworthy condition.
The inspections, conducted by qualified examiners, will focus on key safety components, including tyres, brakes, lights, suspension, CV joints, electrical systems, exhaust systems, wipers and licence discs.
It is important to note that these assessments do not constitute a full roadworthy test, but are designed to help motorists identify potential safety concerns.
The Western Cape Mobility Department has confirmed that driver’s licences will not be scanned for outstanding warrants or fines. Each vehicle will receive a printed report outlining any issues requiring attention. By participating in these free inspections, motorists are contributing to safer roads throughout the province.
Dates and locations
The free vehicle safety checks will be available from 08:00 to 15:30 at various testing centres across the province on Friday 11 April, and from Monday to Wednesday, 14 to 16 April.
In collaboration with private testing centres and local authorities, the Western Cape Government has ensured that these inspections are widely accessible.
