GREAT BRAK NEWS - This year’s Garden Route Walking Festival takes place on 2 April with many walks arranged throughout the Garden Route.
The flat 4 km Great Brak River Museum walk starts at 9.00 am and is suitable for both young and old. Please register at the Garden Route Walking Festival web site and then sign in at the museum in Amy Searle street at 8.30 am onwards.
We will be going over and under the Bridges of Great Brak River ending on the Island. Return the same way or via the other side of the estuary.
On the way, you will learn interesting facts about the bridges of Great Brak River both ancient and modern, the village history, see the historic buildings at its centre, visit the ancient Mossienes sea bed. See the site of the old village bakery and Cecile’s herb garden.
Discover the unfolding of the river formation and its changing history.
Thirty years of village wool washing and its demise with the opening of the railway station in 1906.
This year discover something more about ‘Ichnology’ which is making our coast line famous.
