GEORGE NEWS - Despite a change of venue because of inclement weather, the "Christmas in the Garden" event was still a huge success.
The concert by Carpe Musicam! on Sunday 15 December could not take place at the Garden Route Botanical Garden, and had to be moved to the George Civic Centre. People still brought their own picnic baskets and enjoyed the beautiful music and atmosphere.
Finn Rautenbach, manager of the Garden Route Botanical Garden, said despite the unexpected change in plans, the event was fantastically supported.
"The Garden Route Botanical Garden would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Carpe Musicam! who performed free of charge, Tokkie Nel for providing his sound equipment at a reduced cost, Pam Golding and The Office for printing our song sheets and a local business that would prefer to remain anonymous who contributed towards the costs of the sound as well as the set-up of the stage."
The Civic Centre was packed with picnickers who were not deterred by the change in venue, but came to enjoy the "Christmas in the Garden" concert by Carpe Musicam!.
