GEORGE NEWS - Crime in Wilderness ran rampant last weekend as this quiet seaside village recorded five cases of house breaking and armed robbery in on Friday and Saturday.
A man (63) was robbed by three armed men at his home in Langvlei Dunes on Saturday 28 September at approximately 00:45.
According to George police communications officer, Capt Nolonwabu Tshengu, the unknown suspects gained access to the house through a sliding door. "The victim sustained an open wound to his head when one of the suspects allegedly hit him with a monkey wrench. They demanded money and firearms and fled the scene with a 42 inch Samsung TV and a Samsung X5 cell phone," she said.
The victim was taken to hospital for medical attention. No arrests have been made.
Husband and wife attacked in B&B
The police are looking for five suspects after a couple, both in their 40s, were robbed at gunpoint at a bed and breakfast in North Street, Wilderness, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
According to Tshengu the suspects were all dressed in black and wore balaclavas. They gained access to the victims' bedroom through a sliding door. "One of the suspects had a firearm and another had a knife. The victims were allegedly tied up with electrical cords," Tshengu said.
The suspects fled with jewellery and other items to the value of approximately R40 000. No injuries were reported and no arrests had been made by time of going to print.

House robbed in Rondevlei
After returning home from a function on the same property, a 50-year-old man found his house in chaos on Saturday night at approximately 20:00.
The suspect(s), who made off with money, knives, a laptop and a cellphone, are unknown at this stage and still at large.

Two more houses suffer house breaking and theft
A 63-year-old woman's house was robbed on Friday 27 September between 09:00 and 22:30.
According to Tshengu the woman returned to find her bedroom windows removed. The suspects left the premises with jewelry, cash, knives, a laptop, cellphones and other valuable items. No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to contact

In an unrelated incident another house was broken into on Saturday evening between 18:50 and 22:00 when the owner (63) was not at home.
