GEORGE NEWS - One man was shot and killed and another sustained a gunshot wound to the face during a shooting at a spaza shop in Asazani, Zone 6, Thembalethu, at approximately 21:45 on Saturday 4 December.
The deceased was later identified as Abdullah Mohamed (26).
"Thembalethu police were alerted about a shooting incident at the shop," said Southern Cape police spokesperson, Sgt Chris Spies.
"On arrival they found a man who was fatally wounded and another with a gunshot wound to the face. The latter was taken to hospital for medical care. The motive for the killing is unknown and forms part of the police probe."
CCTV footage of the incident shows the unknown suspect, dressed in a white shirt and black trousers, wearing a mask and a beanie, opening fire as he runs into the shop. After multiple shots were fired, the suspect fled on foot.
No arrests have been made yet and police are urging the public to come forward with any information which could ensure that the perpetrator is brought to book.
