Sepp Blatter, Michel Platini banned for 8 years

INTERNATIONAL NEWS - Outgoing Fifa president Sepp Blatter and suspended Uefa president Michel Platini have been banned for eight years from all football-related activities on a national and international level. The bans come into force immediately.

Both men appeared before Fifa’s ethics committee at the organisation's headquarters in Zurich last week.
Blatter defended himself against claims that he made an unauthorised payment of two million Swiss francs to Platini for advisory services.

Blatter’s hearing lasted eight hours and he appeared before the committee's adjudicatory chamber with his lawyer, who presented evidence which they believed would clear the 79-year-old of allegations of misconduct.
