GEORGE NEWS - A young model from George, Liandri Lamprecht (14), was recently crowned as Miss Petite Teen South Africa Western Cape 2023 during the 24th annual crowning of Miss and Mr Jnr South Africa 2023.
She also walked away crowned as Miss Petite Teen Photo Model and was fourth runner-up in the Miss Petite Teen SA category.
This follows hard work alongside her coach Judy Westraat of Classic Protocol. Lamprecht will also be working in her community during the next year to make a difference in others' lives. "Do it because it makes you happy," said Lamprecht.
The glitzy pageant was held at the ACPP Hall in Pretoria West from 29 March to 1 April. Each contestant participated in a personal interview with the judges, followed by a casual wear and an evening wear ramp walk.
History of the pageant
The pageant was started in the year 2000 by Carolyn Baldwin who realised that there was a specific need to bring back the authenticity of pageantry into our country and to allow contestants to participate in an honest and fair pageant.
Over the past 22 years, more than 8 500 winners have been crowned in various Pageants SA events and, together with the winners and titleholders, over 500 000 charity events have been held, helping over four million people to date.
The chosen charities for the event were Dignity Dreams Pads, Palesa Pads, Subz Pads and Be Your Dream. Each contestant had to get sponsorships to enable them to distribute washable and reusable sanitary products to the less fortunate in their communities and raising money towards assisting a needy person with fees for their tertiary education.
The winners in each age category, as well as the runners-up, were all crowned with various titles which assist them in creating a platform to become involved in charity and community work within their communities.
The winners will also be travelling to various international pageants to represent their titles and South Africa.
