GEORGE NEWS - Wessa Eden has set Saturday 9 May as the date for their annual general meeting, but this is subject to current Covid-19 restrictions which may well be extended.
The meeting will be held at the Environmental Education Centre in the Garden Route Botanical Garden from 10:00 till 12:00.
Dr Marc Stalmans, director of Scientific Services at Gorongosa National Park in Mozambique, will share his experiences.
Stalmans has been working as an independent consultant in conservation since 2001.
In 2006, he was asked to assess the carrying capacity for herbivores of the new sanctuary in Gorongosa. This led to several other studies over the years, including a landscape map of the park.
He was appointed as the director of Scientific Services at the start of 2012 and as such he coordinates the scientific research in the park. The results of these studies are used to guide the management of the park.
