GEORGE NEWS - The upgrading of the Kleinkrantz Bulk Sewer Gravity Main will have an impact on the public, pedestrians, runners, and cyclists using the pedestrian walkway along the N2.
Furthermore, the project will impact road users using Protea Avenue in Kleinkrantz. Construction commenced in August and the estimated construction duration is 10 months.
Recent as well as future housing development requires the upgrading of the existing bulk sewer infrastructure.
To accommodate current and future sewerage flow, a section of the Kleinkrantz bulk sewer main must be upgraded. The scope of work consists of the construction of approximately 1400 meters of bulk gravity sewer pipeline, including manholes.
The section of pipeline starts at 8th Avenue in Wilderness East, runs in an easterly direction, and traverses Protea Avenue, and continues to an existing pump station.
Impact
The construction area will be fully closed to the public. No pedestrians, runners and cyclists may access the area throughout the duration of the construction period. Cyclists and pedestrians are to take extreme caution when making use of the walkway adjacent to the site.
Flag persons and temporary road signage must be adhered to at all times, particularly for the construction of the pipeline traversing through Protea Avenue.
Access to site
Access to the site will be strictly controlled. No member of the public will be allowed access to the construction area, in terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
George Municipality apologises for any inconvenience and appeals to the public to be patient and exercise caution during the construction period. Please look out for all temporary road signage and construction personnel.
