GEORGE NEWS - The founder of Explore Our Hood, Nomzamo Entile, is impressed with the steady growth of the tourism industry in Thembalethu.
She says although they only entertained a few foreign tourists, there was a steady improvement compared to last year. Explore Our Hood serves traditional cuisine such as 'smileys' (roasted sheep's heads), traditional chicken dishes, homemade chakalaka and amarhewu.
You also get to experience traditional dance and music.
"We didn't receive many guests, but we are getting known and business is slowly picking up. We hope to become the talk of the town with lots of recommendations," Entile said.
January looks better with bookings from international visitors on the rise.
"Thanks to the George Herald Holiday Guide, people are starting to notice us and enquire about our services. We are definitely heading in the right direction."
