GEORGE NEWS - Three accused, who were arrested in May in connection with extortion, made a brief appearance in the George Magistrate's Court yesterday, Thursday 8 June.
Luvuyo Komani, Mkhuseti Dresu and Siyabulela Mkila were arrested on the Pacaltsdorp bridge on Monday 8 May and made their first court appearance two days later.
Their arrests stem from charges relating to extortion.
It’s believed that the police were alerted about the three men allegedly involved in incidents at two spaza shops in the area. The vehicle they were travelling in was seen in Beach Road near the entrance to Pacaltsdorp where they were pulled over.
Southern Cape police spokesperson Sgt Chris Spies said a search of the vehicle resulted in the confiscation of an undisclosed amount of cash.
The case against the three was postponed to continue with their bail application on 17 July.
