GEORGE NEWS - South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) grant recipients are urged to swap their old Sassa cards for a new card, which comes with several benefits.
This coming weekend, on Saturday and Sunday, 16 and 17 June, the Sassa offices at 42 Courtenay Street George will be open to facilitate the swap.
The South African Post Office and Sassa are working hard to ensure that all grant beneficiaries will have the new Sassa card by the end of September. Sassa offices in the Western Cape will be open from 08:00 to 13:00 on Saturday and Sunday 16 and 17 June to facilitate the card swap.
"We urge beneficiaries to make use of this opportunity and to bring along their old Sassa card and their ID document," said Martie Gilchrist of the post office's communication division.
The Sassa card comes with the following benefits: three free cash withdrawals per month at Merchants; one free cash withdrawal per month at post office branches; one free ATM balance enquiry per month, and all purchases (swipes) at merchants are free.
