GEORGE NEWSFLASH - The George Civic Centre is packed to the rafters for the National Funda Mzantsi reading championship.
Over a thousand guests were welcomed to George by the Mayor Melvin Naik.
Prof Rocky Ralebipi-Simela, the national librarian and CEO of the national library, said that this, the eighth competition, has grown and produced encouraging results.
“This event has had many success stories since its inception. We would like to encourage people to continue with the culture of reading.”
Delekile Klaas, Western Cape regional commissioner, said although the competition has been held in George eight times, it is not a foregone conclusion that George will always be the host.
George will have to up its game and increase the number of role players involved in the competition.
