GEORGE NEWS - Quick response from bystanders and the George fire brigade saved the famous Elvis Brew Padstal near George Airport from disaster earlier today, Monday 15 August.
According to an eyewitness Gavin Wilson, who was on his way home from work at approximately 18:00, he saw black smoke bellowing from the building when he drove past.
He realised that the building was on fire and together with staff members from the adjacent Bargain Nursery, they quickly manufactured a way to hose the fire until the fire brigade arrived on the scene.
No injuries were reported and the extent of damage has not been confirmed. The cause of the fire still has to be determined.
George Herald reached out to the owner of the business, Jan Hoogendyk (Elvis Blue) and comment regarding the incident is awaited.
