GEORGE NEWS - The exciting Polar Bear Plunge is taking place at Victoria Bay tomorrow, Saturday 6 August, at 10:00.
The main purpose of the event is to inspire the community to show solidarity with those going to bed cold every night by taking a plunge in the ice cold local waters.
The entry fee for the innaugural dotsure.co.za Polar Bear Plunge is one blanket per participant and the whole family is invited to take the plunge.
Famous faces have confirmed their participation - surfer Roxy Louw and comedian, Barry Hilton.
"Identifying with those sleeping cold every night is no laughing matter and I’m happy to be part of this challenge," said Hilton.
The George Herald team is also taking the plunge
Blankets collected on the day will be donated to the Mayoral campaign, the Rotary Club of George, Thanda Jesu and George Child Welfare.
Dress in orange to show your support. Remember that wetsuits are not allowed, the idea is for you to identify with those who go to bed cold every night - a few minutes for you in icy conditions is all it takes.
