GEORGE NEWS - York High School's principal, Francois Moll, is one of only two principals in the Western Cape to be selected to represent the school and the province at an international principals' convention in Shanghai, China.
The other is Bronwyn Fisher, principal of St Anne's Primary School in Cape Town.
The convention brings together principals from all over the world to discuss the challenges facing school leaders wherever they work.
The convention programme will provide opportunities for school leaders to network, collaborate and share practice that will enhance outcomes for students from across the globe.
Moll is looking forward to learning from China's basic education system, which he considers to be one of the best in the world. He will be leaving the school in the capable hands of his team for the two weeks of his absence.
Moll said 25 principals from South Africa are attending this convention. They left last week Friday and will be back in the country on 28 October.
The group will first be shown around by the Chinese government, after which the principals' convention will take place.
"It will be an intense two weeks but I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can," he said.
