GEORGE NEWS - Sanca (South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence) George presented the Kick your Habit Challenge during July. Individuals, groups, businesses and the community were challenged to quit one habit for one week, in order to create awareness of the difficulties faced by people living with substance use disorders.
Denise de Beer, the director, says the challenge ended with a telethon in collaboration with EDENfm.
On behalf of the governing board and staff of Sanca George, she thanked everyone who participated in the challenge and pledge, especially each individual who pledged a donation to the organisation; EDENfm (time on air for two weeks!), George Herald (marketing of campaign), Nova Feeds (employee participation), Dean Hahn (meal vouchers for lucky draw), Brand & Van der Bergh Attorneys (pledge), SPS Security (pledge), Total Sandkraal (employee participation) and Roelf & Jack Garage (employee participation).
Delourise Lindoor and Vanessa Titus were among the winners of the telethon lucky draw.
De Beer said if pledgers were not at the time able to pay the amount they have pledged, they may make a payment to Sanca George, First National Bank, Bank Code: 210114, Acc number: 62718864756.
