GEORGE NEWS - The controlled burns season comes to an end on 31 October.
New applications for next season will be accepted and processed in March 2021.
The public is requested to be patient with new applications due to the Covid workload.
The next controlled burns season is only expected to open around April 2021 with the date to be confirmed by the Western Cape government.
The public can phone the George fire service during the day on 044 801 6360. After hours, phone 044 801 6311 or 044 801 6300 for fire or any other emergencies.
No new permits were issued for controlled burns since lockdown started. People who were already issued with permits, were given a three-month extension.
The latest extensions will also close on 31 October 2020.
The procedures taken are on instruction of the Western Cape government.
