GEORGE NEWS - Volunteers are always needed at the Garden Route SPCA. Most of the jobs they do are fun, don't involve working with animals directly and don't cost them a cent!
Many of us are unable to work directly with abused, sick and injured animals due to allergies or discomfort in facing cruelty to animals, but there are many enjoyable activities you can help with to raise money for the SPCA.
The GR SPCA operates with limited local government funding and has to rely on the public and businesses' generosity to fill the gaps.
Charity shops: The SPCA Charity Shops are vital to the society.
All donations to the shops are spruced up, washed and fixed or mended by volunteers, sorted and arranged by volunteers and priced and sold by volunteers.
The shops have a fun atmosphere and everyone is happy, making amazing friends whilst doing good. To help in a shop, please call Bettie on 071 353 7288 or Amy on 082 055 0357.
Dog walking: Volunteers who walk the dogs and cuddle the cats that are up for adoption have a wonderful, social time, often stopping for a cup of tea afterwards.
If you are 16 years or older, join us on Saturday mornings and Wednesday afternoons.
Fundraising events:
Our fundraising events are exciting and volunteers really enjoy serving coffee, doing dog-walk registrations and much more.
If you could take on just one job for just one event per year that would be greatly appreciated… selling tickets, making tea etc - it is all fun and very rewarding!
Bequests:
Consider leaving a small amount in your will to help care for animals after you pass away.

Donations: Donate cat or dog food or give us your old dog leads, collars, kennels, towels, blankets etc.
You can drop off clothing and home goodies as donations at the SPCA charity shops in the York Street Mall Arcade, 100 York Street, or call us and we will fetch your contributions.
