GEORGE NEWS - Disabled and able-bodied golfers will play together in the first ever George Disability Awareness Charity Golf Day at Kingswood Golf Course next month.
The George municipal director of Community Services, Walter Hendricks, said the golf day on 11 February would launch the sport development department's disability awareness and disabled sport development projects for 2019.
"This is organised in collaboration with disability non-profit organisation Oppie Bol Foundation.
"The golf day and other disability sport development projects are part of the municipality's accessibility to sport programmes.
"The programme aims to make sport facilities in George accessible to those living with disabilities and implementing sporting codes that enhance the quality of life for persons living with disabilities," said Hendricks.
Funds raised by the golf day will be used to cover the expenses of the day and pay for green fees of disabled golfers from previously disadvantaged communities in the George municipal area.
