GEORGE NEWS - In October 2014, 19-year-old Jenna Lowe launched a video inviting the nation to her 21st birthday. The video went viral. This may seem extreme, but for the fact that Jenna was desperately ill with a rare lung disease called pulmonary arterial hypertension, and needed lungs for a transplant.
The nation responded and Jenna did get a lung transplant, but sadly passed away in June 2015, four months before her 21st birthday. She was Lead SA's Youth Hero of the Year in 2015.
Jenna left an amazing legacy. Due to her video, over 20 000 people signed up for organ donation in only three months. She became the face of organ donation and raised awareness of organ donation countrywide with her #GetMeTo21 campaign.
