ACSA George Airport Manager Brenda Voster said this week that all four airlines, Kulula, Airlink, SA Express and Mango have scheduled extra flights to George. Extra chartered flights will also be operating from George to Port Elizabeth.
Edens' Disaster Manager Gerhard Otto, said his division is on high alert for the three months ahead. For the first time an Air-Tractor V803 aircraft with a capacity to hold 3000 litre water, as well as two helicopters and 2 light aircraft for fire spotting have been laid on for fire prevention this season.
The season kicks off with the George Lights Festival and the Wilderness Beach Festival this Saturday 7 December.
Music
Large crowds are expected at music festivals such as the Herolds Bay Eco Resort's Bush Lapa Musical festival from 17 to 31 December, when top entertainers like Valiant Swart and Chris Chameleon will be part of the open air entertainment at the resort.
At Misty Meadows resort on the Sinksabrug Road (along the old Airport Road), two musical festival are lined up from 13 to 21 December and 20 and 21 December, when top local artists will provide a country vibe. The Parlotones will shake up Fancourt at an Outdoor Concert on 27 December and Koos Kombuis will be on the menu on 11 December at the Garden Route Casino. This will be followed by their annual Bravo Music Festival with SA's cream of the crop Steve Hofmeyr, Kurt Darren, Theuns Jordaan and Nicolis Louw from 19 to 23 December.
Mall
The Garden Route Mall has 'SA's got talent" winner Johnny Apple performing on 21 Dec at 15:00. On 12 December they offer the Junior Kom Braai Masters Championships 2013 and on the same day the Premier League 7’s signing session takes place at the Mall. The Outeniqua Sports Stadion will be alive with the George Premier League Sevens Rugby on 13 and 14 December.
Markets
The Outeniqua Farmers' market will be open on Sundays - 22 and 29 December and 5 and 12 January 2014 while the Winkel ini Woud market at the Edengemeente in Kraaibosch is open from 12 tot 21 Desember.
