GEORGE NEWS - At the tender age of nine (nearly ten), the George Herald's website was awarded as the best website (digital presence) at the 30th annual Caxton Excellence Awards held in Pretoria last week.
Under the guiding hands of former online manager Angelique Potgieter and Group Editors' operations director Nicole Rimbault, www.georgeherald.com was initiated in 2009 and officially launched a year later.
The website quickly culminated into a firm favourite, offering breaking news, daily local news, national and international news, sport updates and much more.
Proud winners
Online editor Tanya Watson and her team, Dot Symons, Beatrice Esterhuysen and Wessel van Heerden are bursting with pride.
"We are so proud to have received this award," said Watson. "We are truly an amazing team and I love this digital journey we are on. Though challenging at times, it's so rewarding to see our hard work paying off."
The team is responsible for updating and managing the websites and other social media accounts of all six the Group Editors papers.
"With a page view increase of 131 313 on www.georgeherald.com in the last year, a growing social media presence and a demanding, ever-changing digital age, our team is ready and excited for what 2019 (and beyond) has in store," Watson said.
