KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna Mayor Mark Willemse has said that a number ("two or three" at the time of receiving his statement) of structures have caught alight in Karatara, and that the community of Bosdorp is still being evacuated.
"People are being taken to Welsynsdorp community hall at this moment," he said in a recent statement to the media.
Willemse added that all fire services are in the area to ensure evacuations take place and to ensure the fire remains under control.
"We are sending some extra off-duty firefighters to the area to monitor and to ensure situation remains under control," he added.
Currently, he said, supplies are being taken to the hall to assist evacuees.
