GEORGE NEWS - A fire broke out at the landfill site last night, Wednesday 1 June.
The fire continues this morning as access is limited.
An excavator will be used to start digging into the burning area. The fire department remains on-site with municipal staff.
Water is ineffective in deep-seated fires like these.
This will be a steady operation to remain safe while dealing with the burning debris.
