GEORGE NEWS - A fire started at the George landfill site in the strong windy conditions last night. 

Municipal spokesperson Chantel Edwards-Klose confirmed that it was extinguished this morning, but continues to smoulder. 

“George Community Services Department is monitoring the situation together with the Fire Department,” said Edwards-Klose.

The fire is visible from the entrance to the shooting range off the R102 (Old Airport Road). Photos: Michelle Pienaar
