Volgens 'n inwoner het hulle om 06:00 die oggend opgemerk water stroom in die pad af. 

"Ons het die munisipaliteit dadelik laat weet en hulle het gesê hulle stuur iemand uit, maar uiteindelik het daar eers na 10:00 'n span opgedaag," het die inwoner gesê.

"In die vier ure wat die water bly loop het, het duisende liters water verlore gegaan." Kommentaar word van George-munisipaliteit verwag op 'n vraag oor die rede waarom dit so lank geneem het voordat aandag aan die probleem geskenk is.

Director Civil Engineering, Regenald Wesso, responds:
The municipal standard for responding to major pipe breaks is 24 hours and we duly complied in this instance. The municipality, however, applauds the concerns raised by our very caring residents to attend to water pipe breaks of this nature sooner.

There are currently two standby teams on duty after hours and they were busy attending to other pipe breaks that led them to attend to this particular incident four hours after it was first reported. We rely on the community to report on any infrastructure failures where after we attempt to respond within the set response times.
