GEORGE NEWS & VIDEOS - Cedric Yantolo, George sub-district manager of EMS Ambulance Service is the first of 320 healthcare workers in the Garden Route district to receive the J&J Covid-19 vaccine this week.
Vaccination is starting this morning, Wednesday 3 March, at George Hospital, the only registered vaccination site in the district.
Mediclinic George Manager Kassie Karstens, who is also on site, says 68 of his staff will be vaccinated as part of the current batch.
"It was a week of short notice and deadlines, but we are grateful for the excellent cooperation with province and relieved that it has started," he says.
Healthcare workers from George Hospital and the two sub-districts of George and Bitou in the private and public sector are included in this initial rollout.

Garden Route and Central Karoo Director of Health Zee Brickles is also at George Hospital this morning. He said healthcare workers have shown that they are keen to be vaccinated.
During the next 2 weeks, 680 people will receive the vaccine.
