GEORGE NEWS - Kretzenshoop Primary children were thrilled to experience live theatre at the Oakhurst Insurance George Arts Theatre for the very first time on Monday morning when they attended TheatreRiffic featuring The Dream Box. Local actors and theatre interns got children involved in singing and clapping along during the show which lasted 30 minutes.
Plett actor Regen Joel’s rapid dance steps, somersaults and clown antics were well received, while Aldo Calitz’s magical tricks got children shouting with joy. The Dreambox was developed by Asijike Arts Team and is produced and directed by Carina Beukes.
Heather Stead, theatre manager, said the intention of this production is to reach as many local school children as possible. Joanelda Brand was a cute Girl Puppet and Xolisa Mtshiselwa played the part of the sleepy boy. The choreography was devised by Advanced Creative Dance Studio, the lighting and sound were handled by Severiano Botha while Jeffrey van Niekerk is the stage manager with Jolien Saaiman and Tazz-Lynne Wagner handling the booking office.

A personal touch that school children simply love is when the actors come right up to them and give them a high five. The rest of the experience is somewhat dreamlike and the excellent sound and music at the George Arts Theatre adds to this dynamic and joyful experience that children have during their visit.
