GEORGE NEWS - Four suspects, of whom one is an advocate, appeared in the Plettenberg Bay Magistrate's Court on Wednesday 28 July after they were caught with about 164kg of copper in their possession on Monday 26 July.
George advocate Zukile Mqulo and the three other suspects, Mandla Twala, Litha Alam and Monwabisi Godongwana, were travelling from Plettenberg Bay to George in a Toyota Quantum minibus when they were stopped at a roadblock of the Eden Cluster Crime Combatting team at 19:30.
"Two containers with copper and a bolt cutter were found in the vehicle. The items were seized and the driver of the vehicle, as well as three passengers, were arrested on the scene," said Southern Cape police spokesperson, Capt Malcolm Pojie.

Mqulo is a former public prosecutor who handled cases in George and Oudtshoorn, among others. He recently started his own practice in George.
The four suspects, all between the ages of 31 and 47, appeared on charges of possession of suspected stolen property and were released on bail of R500 each. The case was postponed until 6 September for further investigation.
