GARDEN ROUTE NEWS AND VIDEO - A wildfire broke out yesterday (20 February) on Seekoeigat Farm, north of Heidelberg.
According to a press release received from Garden Route District Municipality, the fire was "reportedly caused by sparks from a ploughing tractor."
GRDM reported this morning (21 February) that the fire is under control but not yet contained.
"GRDM firefighters, ground crews from Working on Fire, and landowners are still battling the fire in the mountains. No structures are at risk, and there is no immediate danger to life.
Mayor Andrew Stroebel expresses his gratitude to Firefighters for their swift coordinated response to the wildfire.
