WESTERN CAPE NEWS - In a media statement earlier today, Western Cape premier Alan Winde appealed to the community to play their part to prevent infection and transmission in order to help protect healthcare workers.
According to the statement:
During my visit to Clanwilliam today, it was clear that the pandemic and third wave have placed great strain, both physical and emotional, on our healthcare workers.
They have borne the brunt of the three waves and are exhausted. They’ve gone above and beyond to save lives, at the risk of their own.
So please, let’s play our part and protect them by wearing our masks correctly, washing and sanitizing our hands regularly and avoiding gatherings. Doing so will ensure that we prevent infection and transmission.
Let’s also make sure that we make use of our vaccine opportunity, should we be eligible. Doing so will ensure that we get excellent protection from serious illness and death.
