It is an international concept that works very well overseas and is based on a no appointment needed principal with a first come first serve basis. What this means is that you don’t need to make an appointment, but can just walk in and see the doctor, for your convenience instead of waiting in the waiting room. You can even go shopping and they will give you a call when the doctor is ready to see you!
‘Walk in Doctor’ is a normal GP practice and renders the following services:
- general check ups, acute medical problems, chronic medical problems,
- suturing of wounds, small surgical procedures,
- papsmears, screening tests, etc.
‘Walk in Doctor’ will be run by Dr Magdaleen de Swardt. She grew up and went to school in George and studied in Bloemfontein, where she also completed two years of internship and her community service in Thaba Nchu. She then came back to George and worked in George Provincial Hospital in the Family Medicine Department, also went overseas and worked in Ireland for some time and came back again to work in George Provincial Hospital in the Surgical Department for the last year. It has always been a dream for her to have her own practice and finally it has come true. She believes in rendering quality health care and giving good service.
Starting in October, Walk in Doctor welcomes Dr Adri Hofmeister.
Dr Adri Hofmeister returned to South Africa after she spent 14 years abroad in Canada and the UK. Most recently she was privileged to work in the emergency unit at George Mediclinic.
After completing her diploma in obstetrics and gynaecology she further specialised in general practice in the UK and is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners. She furthered her career by obtaining a qualification in postgraduate medical education.
Whilst abroad Dr Adri Hofmeister successfully started and ran her own aesthetic clinic offering medical skin and laser treatments. She understands the importance of looking and feeling your best despite everyday pressures and offers Botox, Dermal Fillers, Facial Peels, Leg Vein treatment, Skin Rejuvenation and advanced skin care in a friendly and discreet atmosphere.
‘Walk in Doctor’ is situated in the Garden Route Mall next to Dischem and opening hours are 09:00 - 18:00 Mondays to Fridays, 09:00 - 17:00 on Saturdays and 09:00 - 15:00 on Sundays and public holidays.
