In a cosy 'Boere bistro' atmosphere, complete with a coffee bar and lounge area (with magazines and an upstairs section for small meetings), you can enjoy anything from an omelette with delicious fillings to a garden salad. Alternatively, a steak crouton salad or Koe Koe Salad (chicken, feta, mango and nut salad).
Lesley, who is a born entrepreneur and a Georgian through and through, explained the concept behind the business. "The Bread Bin Factory is a meeting place in the heart of the George Industrial Area where coffee connoisseurs, friends and business people come to indulge in the delicious burgers and services. The artful fusion and rustic cosiness give The Bread Bin Factory an enchanting atmosphere." She decided to concentrate on providing a menu that includes a pasta dish and burgers rather than baking bread - purely from a practical point of view. Although she has a French training background, she has opted for filling meals and will slowly add to the menu to cater for more adventurous palates as the business grows.
Free WiFi
Lesley explains, "We offer free WiFi, a meeting room with good coffee and friendly service. We do have card facilities available, platters or catering on request. We cater for year-end functions."
There is menu with a wide variety for picky customers who enjoy freshly prepared and filling meal options. Her range of toasted sandwiches include chicken mayonnaise and cheese at R18; for the imaginative palate a toasted camembert, cranberry, bacon and baby spinach sandwich at R30. But if you want a hearty, filling meal you may want to try her Kilimanjaro hamburger, which is stacked with a 300g homemade patty.
This unique coffee shop cum takeaway, was decorated by Lesley and the furniture was created with the help of her husband, Jurgen, with a view of creating a special ambiance.
