GEORGE NEWS - Well-known allergy specialist Dr Corli Lodder will join Dr Chris van Niekerk's practice as a general practitioner with special focus on allergies, at Die Huis Artz at 5 Doneraile Square on 1 April.
Dr Lodder is a member of the Allergy Society of South Africa. In 2003 she received a diploma in Allergology at the SA College of Medicine and in 2005 she opened one of the first dedicated allergy clinics in private practice in the country in Alberton, Gauteng.
As a member of the Allergic Rhinitis Working Group of South Africa, she is involved in the writing of guidelines for the treatment of allergic rhinitis, which were published in the South African Medical Journal (SAMJ).
She was on the executive committee and vice-chairman of the National Asthma Education Programme (NAEP). In 2007 she was appointed as part-time researcher in the Department of Immunology at the University of Pretoria.
The results of her research on Montelukast were presented at congresses both locally and internationally and resulted in four publications in international journals. She was awarded a PhD in November 2011.
Dr Lodder was practising as a general practitioner in Boksburg where her allergy clinic formed part of the practice. She lectures across the country on allergies and asthma. She published in several local journals on topics in Allergology.
Dr Lodder was born in Klerksdorp in the North West and is married to Christo Lodder, headmaster of Concordia Primary School in Boksburg. She completed her schooling in Boksburg and did her MBChB degree at the University of the Free State.
