Asset Trading is a true family business: Hannes is married to David’s sister, and his (Muller’s) son, Marius (an LLB student) is very involved in the day-to-day running of the business.
They have relocated to Knysna from Rustenburg to take over Asset Trading’s reigns on 1 September and will soon be joined by their wives, Nelia and Meisie.
After years of visiting the Garden Route to take a break from their retail outlets in Rustenburg, they have finally decided to contribute their business knowledge and skills in the local market, instead of simply retiring here one day as they have always dreamt of.
Asset Trading, situated around the corner from Fruit and Veg City in Knysna, has been given a welcome facelift which encourages shoppers to browse among its extensive stock of secondhand goods, including antiques, collectibles, an array of books, household items, furniture and much more.
Wine lovers will be thrilled by the licensed wine cellar where they can taste the wines on offer before purchasing.
Planned for the first Friday and Saturday of every month, bargain hunters can look forward to the sale of shop soiled and/or redundant stock at give-away prices.
The owners are actively sourcing for purchase affordable, usable items of a good quality and will buy secondhand goods of a superior quality from prospective sellers.
Also on offer at the premises are carpentry services using indigenous woods, the manu-facture of cane furniture, as well as the restoration of damaged furniture.
David and Hannes are impressed by the warm, friendly welcome with which the local people received them, and would like to extend a special word of thanks to Rial and Shirley Kruger of Baywatch Properties for their hospitality.
