GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - A Beekeeping Farmers' Day will be held by the Western Cape Department of Agriculture and Southern Cape Bee Industry Association on 5 August in Albertinia.
Registration is at 08:30.
Topics to be discussed are:
- Canola - benefits and challenges for bees by André de Jager.
- Management of swarms on Canola - brood box maintenance, splitting and preparation for pollination by Daniel Bridger.
After the tea break:
- Cover crops for bee forage and benefits to the producers by Monique-Cheri van der Westhuizen.
- Basic hive and apiary management by Mike Allsopp.
There will be open hives to demonstrate hive management and splits on Canola.
