Borcherds-families praat oor hul 'metrodene'
Liggies flikker in hul oë wanneer agterplaasbewoners van Borcherds oor hulle "Metrodene" praat. Dit is nou die oop stuk grond langs Borcherds, wat alombekend is as die Metro-gronde. Die grond is oorkant die destydse Metro Cash & Carry geleë. Huissoekers is angstig om in aanmerking te kom vir die behuisingskema wat hier beplan word. Die Borcherds-aksiegroep het verlede week 'n vergadering met die direkteur van behuising, Charles Lubbe, belê om hul vrese en verwagtinge te bespreek. Volgens die voorsitter, John Yoko, is agterplaasbewoners van Borcherds bang dat hulle aan die agterspeen gaan suig wanneer huise uitgedeel word. "Ons het gehoor mense van Uniondale en Thembalethu is ook begunstigdes, en ons is baie ontevrede daaroor," het Yoko gesê.
