ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - The Capetonian husband and wife artist team, Ryan and Jodie Loubser, are bringing their mobile gallery, The Loubser House Art Gallery, to the Wilderness Art Festival at the Wilderness Hotel on 27, 28 and 29 February.
Ryan paints the South African landscape, its places and people. He loves to travel and explore the country and it is during these travels that he collects the imagery that is later translated onto canvas.
A strong observation of light and colour is central to his chosen composition. Ryan has created his own signature cubistic style, Fractionism, after the influence of Picasso and Braque.
Jodie mostly draws inspiration from Victorian interiors and the old masters like Monet, Adolph Menzel, Gustave Caillebotte and Degas. She enjoys the freedom to challenge new methods of applying paint.
She prefers a natural soft palette for her realistic style, while her admiration for the impressionists helps her draw the viewer into a contrasting, colourful and textured interpretation.
