GEORGE NEWS - Rob van Vuuren, winner of the inaugural Comics Choice Breakthrough Act Award launches his new stand-up comedy tour de force with a world premiere in George, at the Kalahari Theatre on Saturday, 30 April.
Rob is well known throughout South Africa for a variety of roles and achievements. He is sometimes Twakkie from the cult comedy stage and award winning TV series The Most Amazing Show as well as being the co-host of the award winning and wildly popular TV show SA’s Got Talent.
Rob also got an opportunity to Shucks’ Schuster in his latest record breaking movie Shucks Tshabalala’s Survival Guide to South Africa and believe it or not is also a Strictly Come Dancing champion.
Since starting stand-up in earnest just three years ago, Rob has quickly risen through the ranks to establish himself as a regular and extremely funny headline act. His first stand-up show was nominated for best One Man Show at the 2008, SA Comedy Awards, and toured the country to critical acclaim. In the same year he picked up the Nando’s Best Newcomer award at the Grahamstown Festival and his brand new one man show Rob van Vuuren - Live demonstrates the coming of age of a ta-lented comedian and presents a van Vuuren funnier than ever.
With his trademark surreal physical style and disarming honesty this show takes you on an unforgettable journey into the warped mind of a comedy genius. From his take on cats and dogs, Steve Hofmeyr and Jacob Zuma, toenails and flying to his deeply personal story of adoption and becoming a dad Rob van Vuuren will keep you laughing throughout.
Rob van Vuuren - Live! is adult comedy and is not recommended for children under 16 or those easily offended. Critics agree that he is funny.
"His voice changes were great and when he used his physical transformations along with facial expressions there were de-finitely people in the audience who had potential to injure themselves with the level of laughter going on. (Your Soap Box).
