GEORGE NEWS - We are almost halfway into September, the month of spring, but winter is refusing to release its cold grip on George.
However, music lovers can look forward to warming their hearts at the upcoming spring lunch hour concert series in the Dutch Reformed Mother Church.
The spring and autumn concert series, that offer excellent music during the lunch hour on Wednesdays, have been an institution in George for years.
The concerts take place from 13:10 to 13:50 and entrance is free, but donations are welcome.
The programme is as follows:
- 20 September: Gerrit Jordaan - organ
- 27 September: York High - Budding Music Gems - piano, trumpet, clarinet and voice
- 4 October: Musica Amici Ensemble - Dalene Brits (piano), Elize Munro (clarinet), Calvin Steyn (violin) and Kalene Roux (flute)
- 11 October: Stern Bezuidenhout - piano
- 18 October: Elisabeth Potgieter (mezzo soprano) with male quartet, accompanied by Dalene Brits (piano) and Elize Munro (clarinet)
The artist for the first concert, next Wednesday 20 September, is the organist Gerrit Jordaan.
