GEORGE NEWS - Art gallery and events platform Attic Atelier in Langenhoven Street hosted its first pop-up art market last Thursday, 3 October.
After an open call for visual artists to take part, eleven artists booked their spots within two days, with another group of eager artists placed on a waiting list for the next market.
This will now be a regular event on the first Thursday of every month.
From beautiful works incorporating elements and materials from nature, fused-glass pieces, metal tape art and wood prints to exquisite paintings in various styles, sizes and mediums, the Atelier was brimming with extensive unique creations on display.

Patrons strolled the market while enjoying the delicious snacks from chef Ronelle Stopforth (aka the Spice Lady) and delighted at the local talent on display.
For many artists, the market marked their first time exhibiting, instilling a sense of confidence in sharing their work, which is one of the goals of Attic Atelier.
The participating artists were Susan Alexander, Lizel Bovit, Karin (Kala) Combrink, Lynne Daneel, René Gomes, Shannon Hay, Cecily-Ann Pohl, Jane Pretorius, Daniël Roestorf, Karen Warneke and Kate Witthuhn. Local librarian Elmine Vorster was also invited to share the George Library’s latest initiative in celebration of Literacy Month.
