GEORGE NEWS - The Group Editors Online team decided to take the night off and go to the theatre for the opening night of the George Arts Theatre’s latest production, Tom, Dick & Harry - and what fun we had!
Directed by Simoné Kleynhans, this good old-fashioned farce, written by Ray and Michael Cooney, is just what you need if you want a little break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, even though hustle and bustle is what it is all about.
The cast will have you in stitches with their crazy antics as life happens and they scramble to keep it all together.
Tom (Alexander Venter) and his wife (Joanelda Brandt; Chane Ferreira: understudy) are about to adopt a baby. His brothers are anxious to help make a good impression on the woman from the agency (Madie Calitz) who has arrived to check on the home and lifestyle of the prospective parents.
Unfortunately, Dick (Quintin van Biljon), who has stashed boxes of contraband in the house, and Harry (Viaan Coetzee), who is in possession of a cadaver he plans to sell illegally to a medical school, fail miserably.
The adoption agency representative is aghast - and the illegal Croatian nationals (André Louw and Julie Brendan Powell) are no help at all!
They say art imitates life, so whether you’re floundering around trying to get your feet back on the ground – or not – take a break and go enjoy this hilarious play at the George Arts Theatre.
Show dates are 15 to 18 and 22 to 25 September; with evening shows at 19:00 and a matinee on Saturdays and Sundays. The show is not for children under the age of 16.
Tickets cost R120 or R100 for theatre club members and can be bought at Computicket or at the theatre box office (125 York Street). For more information, phone the George Arts Theatre on 044 873 3938 or WhatsApp 062 851 0751.
This show will keep you entertained and remind you to just live a little!
Go on, take a break. If any Tom, Dick & Harry can do it, why not you?
Chaos ensues as Tom desperately tries to keep it together.
Tom tries to keep it together with Mrs Potter, but Harry and the immigrants are not helping.
How do you explain this to the police?
