GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Carpe Musicam! Orchestra and Choir will entertain guests with three performances of their programme Memorable Movie Music in March.
The show promises to deliver 90 minutes of music from a collection of movies that have left a lasting impression on our collective consciousness and social culture.
Show dates are Sunday 19 March at the Dutch Reformed Church Sedgefield (15:30); Friday 24 March at the George Civic Centre hall (19:00) and Sunday 26 March at the Mossel Bay City Hall (15:30).
Tickets are available at R150 (adults) and R50 (children under 18) at www.carpemusicam.co.za.
According to conductor Norman Carless, the show focuses on movies whose stories have touched our innermost beings, movies whose characters we have never forgotten and that are considered to have been some of the best of the last sixty-or-so years.
"Conveniently enough, these movies have sported theme music that complements their greatness, and that is already considered to be some of the greatest film music of its era," he says.
"Most of the music comes from war films or unashamed romances, and is filled with passion, excitement as well as a good few moments of exquisite tenderness - and a hearty chuckle here and there."
