ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - Music by the award-winning Charl du Plessis Trio will fill the George Arts Theatre on Sunday 21 October. Their fabulous, gripping performance is presented by the George Music Society.
The trio hails from South Africa and produces a fresh sound, spanning multiple influences from all its members - pianist Charl du Plessis, bassist Werner Spies and drummer Peter Auret.
It is particularly the juxtaposition of classical and jazz music in their arrangements that have made this ensemble stand out and gain international recognition.
The trio has recorded seven albums and two DVDs and has an international recording contract with Swiss label Claves. These have been awarded multiple prizes, including two South African Music Awards (Sama), a Ghoema and Fiësta.
The show starts at 15:30. Tickets are R150, members R100 and students R30. Book online at www.georgemusicsociety.co.za.
