GEORGE NEWS - York High's school hall was transformed into the City of Enchantment, Agrabah, for their performance of Aladdin over the course of last week, ending with a gala evening on Saturday 13 August.
Drama and dance students excelled on stage, delivering top-notch entertainment under the guidance of show director Darelle de Lange, dance director Linda Johnson, musical director Max Mammakoko and stage manager Monya van Heerden.
Katherine Armstrong gave a sterling performance as the genie, alongside Himmith Maharaj as Aladdin, and Bunono Frans and Amy van Schalkwyk who shared the role of Jasmine.
Van Schalkwyk and Frans each brought their own unique flare to the stage as Jasmine - another reason why watching the show twice in a row was such a treat.
The well-written script delivered many humorous moments and the costumes and decor were pure delight.

Learners of the George South Primary vocal ensemble joined the production as little white clouds - the sugar on top of a well-rehearsed, superbly produced show.

Alladin's friends make ready for battle: Kaleigh de Jager (Babak), Lihle Mahlangu (Omar) and Ester de Lange (Kassim).
The family of Kaleigh de Jager, who plays the role "Babak", travelled all the way from Cape Town and Oudtshoorn to see her in action. From left are Diorene, Zel-Rene and Delroy Fourie, and Kaleigh's mom and dad, Porcia and Gerald de Jager.
