Pacaltsdorp residents are next in line to get the GO GEORGE public transport system to their doorstep on Saturday 2 May.
GEORGE NEWS - The long wait for Pacaltsdorp residents is almost over. The George Municipality has announced they will be activating the GO GEORGE public transport system's next set of routes on Saturday 2 May, and the residents of the oldest suburb in George may ready themselves for this joyous event.
The routes will cover Pacaltsdorp - CBD / Rosedale / Pacaltsdorp Industria East and West / Pacaltsdorp. This will connect these neighbourhoods with exis-ting GO GEORGE routes operating in and between the CBD, Denneoord, Loerie Park, Rosemoor, Blanco, Heatherlands, Heather Park and the Garden Route Mall.
The fares for these new phase 3 routes will also be R8,50 per single ticket (one direction), including transfers within one hour of ticket validation between any of the routes that are currently operating, making more parts of George accessible for more residents.
"Bring it on!"
Pacaltsdorp residents expressed their excitement and anticipation of this much-needed service. "They told us we don't need to market the concept of the buses to them, we must just bring it on," said James Robb, GO GEORGE manager.
He reminds passengers, though, to be realistic in their expectations. "The bus service won't always take you to your destination faster than before. But what it does offer you, is a reliable, affordable, safe, convenient and accessible public transport service designed around the needs of every community specifically," he said. "That's why it is so important to let us know where we can do better. We refer to our roll-outs as provisional, because we will still make changes in response to community feedback afterwards."
l The GO GEORGE team will be visiting central spots in Pacaltsdorp during the last week of April to introduce and explain the public transport service, time schedules and procedures to the community. Contact the GO GEORGE team via their website (www.gogeorge.org.za), the call centre (0800 044 044), via e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org), on Twitter (@GoGeorgeZA), or 'like' them on Facebook.
